SUHOOR TO IFTAR

After the success of last year’s Suhoor to Iftar, the Leos of Multiple District 306 Sri Lanka felt that the project had touched many hearts and deserved to return even stronger. With this belief, Event Chairperson Leo Amaan Fareed stepped forward once again to lead the project.

Amaan began by discussing ideas with his team and our District President, Leo Senthooran Vijayakumar. Together, they dreamed of expanding the project across all 12 districts, making it a true celebration of unity during Ramadan. Along the way, Amaan connected with friends from various districts, and Senthooran introduced more clubs and Leos who were eager to help.

One thoughtful idea shaped the project beautifully:

Leos from Jaffna and Batticaloa, living far from Colombo, could hold their own Iftar gatherings in their districts. This allowed everyone to take part without travel difficulties, making the project more inclusive.

With everyone on board, the group sought approval from all 12 District Presidents and received full support. The next step was PR. As always, the Multiple District team highlighted the project with strong, beautiful PR materials, building excitement and sharing the message of unity throughout the country.

Once planning was settled, the next step was to bring everything to life. A WhatsApp group became the main hub where all responsibilities were shared.

  • Leo Amaan arranged kanji from a nearby mosque
  • Leo Wardha brought food
  • Leo Jessica prepared drinks
  • Leo Umindu managed announcements
  • Leo Amalsha and Leo Santhu prepared the event space
  • Others joined in with setting up and supporting wherever needed

On the day of the event, guests arrived at 6.00 p.m., filling the venue with excitement and warmth. Soft Qaseeda recitations began the evening, creating a peaceful atmosphere. By 6.20 p.m., everyone gathered to begin Iftar.

Amaan hosted the event with calm and clarity. He shared the meaning of Ramadan, why Muslims fast, and the traditional way of breaking fast with dates first, then water, then short eats. His words helped everyone understand the cultural and spiritual value of the moment.

To add a special touch, Leo Amaan Jahaldeen from the Leo Club of Colombo North sang Arabic songs, which truly captivated the crowd and brought an emotional connection to the evening.

As the night came to an end, the visiting District Presidents shared their appreciation for the cultural harmony the project created. The Multiple District President also praised the effort, highlighting how beautifully the Leos had represented unity, respect, and service.

To honor the guests, Islamic hats and shawls were gifted to the chief guests and special invitees a small but heartfelt gesture.

Special thanks were given to the Leos who traveled all the way from Galle and Kandy, showing true dedication to the project.

The evening closed with smiles, gratitude, and the proud feeling that together, all 12 districts had brought another successful, meaningful “Suhoor to Iftar” to life. It wasn’t just an event it was a celebration of culture, friendship, and the spirit of Ramadan.
