🏥 World Patient Safety Day

What is World Patient Safety Day?

World Patient Safety Day, observed on September 17th every year, is a global health campaign initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO). The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of patient safety and to encourage governments, healthcare organizations, and individuals to prioritize safe healthcare practices.

Why Patient Safety Matters

⚠️ Preventing Harm – Millions of patients worldwide suffer avoidable harm each year due to unsafe medical practices.

👩‍⚕️ Trust in Healthcare – Safe care builds confidence between patients and healthcare providers.

🌍 Global Concern – Patient safety is fundamental to achieving universal health coverage and sustainable healthcare systems.

World Patient Safety Day reminds us that healthcare should first and foremost, do no harm. By fostering trust, communication, and accountability, we can build safer healthcare systems and protect patients everywhere.

Hospitals, governments, and health organizations worldwide mark this day with seminars, awareness campaigns, training programs, and initiatives that promote a culture of safety in healthcare settings.
