Leo Club of IIT Launches “Sight Beyond Life” with Over 100+ Pledges for Organ & Eye Donation
As part of its commitment to service and compassion, the Leo Club of IIT proudly launched Project Sight Beyond Life on Poya Day, 8 August 2025, at Galduwa Aranya Senasana, Galle. This first phase of the project aimed to inspire individuals to pledge their organ and eye donations—offering the gift of life and sight beyond their own time.
This impactful initiative aligned perfectly with the Buddhist philosophy of selfless giving and detachment, making the timing on Poya Day both symbolic and powerful. With the guidance of Leo members, attendees learned about the life-changing potential of organ and eye donations, and over 100 generous souls pledged to make a difference.
The initiative served multiple goals:
- Promoting Organ & Eye Donation Awareness
Educating the public on the importance of pledging, and how a single donation can save or transform multiple lives. - Encouraging Selfless Giving
Aligning the project with Buddhist teachings to inspire compassionate action and altruism. - Building Community Engagement
Bringing together the local community, temple visitors, and Leos to work towards a shared humanitarian cause. - Leadership & Service in Action
Members took charge of logistics, public interaction, and awareness campaigns—strengthening their skills in event execution.
This first phase had a strong impact across multiple dimensions:
