What is Leo?

The Leo Club Program is a dynamic youth organization affiliated with Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization. The word “LEO” stands for Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity — the three pillars that define the journey of every Leo member. Designed for young people who are passionate about making a difference, Leo Clubs provide a platform for personal development, leadership growth, and meaningful community service.
A Global Movement with a Local Impact
Founded in 1957, the Leo movement has now expanded across 140+ countries with over 160,000 active members. While global in scale, each Leo Club functions at the community level, identifying local needs and launching service projects that create real, lasting change. Leos work on initiatives such as environmental conservation, youth empowerment, health and wellness, education support, disaster relief, and more.
Leadership Through Action
Leo Clubs are youth-led and adult-supported. This unique structure empowers young people to plan, execute, and lead projects that matter to them. From organizing awareness campaigns to managing fundraising events, Leos gain hands-on experience in decision-making, teamwork, and leadership that textbooks can’t offer.
Each club is run by a board of young officers — typically including a President, Secretary, and Treasurer — who guide their teams with vision and enthusiasm. Leos also collaborate with their sponsoring Lions Club for mentorship and additional resources, making it a well-rounded experience.

Being a Leo isn’t just about service — it’s about growth. Members develop communication skills, self-confidence, organizational ability, and cultural awareness.
