Project ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025: Empowering Through Inclusive Sports
Continuing its commitment to impactful community service, the Leo Club of IIT proudly participated in the first-ever ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025, held from 11ᵗʰ to 23ʳᵈ November. The tournament brought together six nations – India, Nepal, Pakistan, Australia, USA, and Sri Lanka – celebrating skill, resilience, and inclusivity.
The event highlighted the importance of equal opportunities in sports, aligning with the Sports Council of IIT’s theme, “Sports for Humanity.” Volunteers guided teams from arrival to accommodation, assisted during matches, and ensured smooth logistics. Key roles included:
- Leo Manish Perera – Transport & General Event Coordinator
- Leo Senuth Wanniarachchi – Official Photographer
- Leo Uvini Wickramaarachchi – Liaison Officer for Team Nepal
- Leo Isali Dehansa – Liaison Officer for Team India
Matches were held at BOI Cricket Ground, Katunayake (15–20 Nov) and P. Saravanamuttu International Cricket Stadium, Colombo (Semi-finals & Finals). The tournament concluded with India defeating Nepal to become the inaugural Women’s Blind Cricket T20 Champions. Volunteers were honored at the Official Grand Gala Dinner on 20ᵗʰ November at Hangla – The Ocean Lounge, Colombo, for their dedication and contribution.
The Initiative Focused on Key Objectives:

- Strengthening Community Service: Encouraging volunteers to actively support an international sporting event.
